Home Groups

 Home Groups

There are 5 different home groups at The Good Shepherd Church. They meet on a variety of days in both the morning and evening. Each group has a different flavour catering for everybody from the young adults of the Church right up to those of our Church family who are grandparents or even great-grandparents!

The groups offer an ideal opportunity for us to grow in faith and learn more about God’s love. They also create a strong feeling of fellowship among the members as we seek to follow the Christian way of life.

Please feel free to ask about joining a group at any time, especially if you are new to the Church. It’s a great way to make friends!!

Locke Group

Thursday 7.45 for 8.15 p.m.

We are a warm and welcoming group of people who meet once a fortnight on a Thursday evening. We treasure sharing our lives and concerns with each other, praying together and studying the Bible. From time to time we have outings which have included a visit to the play ‘The Life of Christ’ at Wintershall and visits to Christmas concerts.

The group is led by David and Elizabeth Locke and hosted alternately by Donna Pullen and Clare Martin, who both have cats.

Sztypuljak Group

Thursday 8.15 for 8.30p.m.

This group is led by Tony and Tricia. We meet once a fortnight and study a Bible passage over a cup of coffee. The evening is full of light-hearted conversation but we all go home feeling closer to God and challenged by what we have read. We chat about our concerns and pray for one another too, which increases our feeling of fellowship. We also have time for social evenings. Our last social was a fund raiser for the charities we support at the Good Shepherd. We organised a Champagne Cream Tea and  raised over £700! We also had a great time!

Thompson Group

We are a small group of individuals, at different stages of faith, who meet fortnightly on a Wednesday evening to study the Bible and to share our lives as we try to know Christ better and to make Him known. Sessions are varied, lively and sometimes controversial as we seek to nurture each other and our faith. Honesty, caring and fun bind us together as we parish visit, plan a communal meal or go to a concert. The home group is co-ordinated by Cheryl and Anthony and hosted by Lesley and Martin on the western frontier of the parish.

Turrell Group

Thursday 10 a.m.
We are a group of re-cycled teenagers who meet at 10 a.m. on alternate Thursdays to enjoy excellent coffee and put the world to rights! Our Bible study and prayers are enriched by many years experience of Christian Life.
