All are welcome to this year’s Good Shepherd Christmas fair in aid of our five charities. Do come along and enjoy a mulled wine, or your first Christmas food for 2022. There is also the restaurant, cake stall and a myriad of other stalls. All are welcome and help us raise funds for our charities.

The Diamond Riding Centre  – enabling children with complex needs to discover the beauty of horse-riding and the freedom it can bring.
Sutton Community Works   – which includes Sutton Foodbank and Sutton Foodshop.
Sutton Schools Work  –  a local project encouraging our local schools and communicating a faith message.
Home Start – a national charity working locally with family and children.
Cry in the Dark – a project serving the lives of 22 children who were found in the early 2000s abandoned and alone. These children have survived into adult life and the project has become their family. The project also has a hospice and a ministry to the children in the Roma Village.

The Church of the Good Shepherd are seeking to appoint a Church Centre Co-ordinator with particular responsibilities for Lettings.
The post will be a part time post with negotiable hours between 10-15 hours each week and a salary of £22k pro rata.

We are a busy church community and regularly let out our premises to community group’s and children’s parties.

2022 Lent Course is coming starts March 6 2022 at 7.15pm

In previous Lent Courses we looked at being rooted in christ and growing in faith through the Bible Course and the Bible Project Course, but how are we fruitful in love? What does it mean to be fruitful as a follower of Jesus, where you are? What we might call your ‘frontline’? How do our daily tasks reflect our faith? This six session course helps us to see that all of us have a frontline, whether it’s at home, at work, at school, with the grandchildren, on our street WhatsApp group; and shows us how important those places are to God. We will see how God can work through our everyday actions in our everyday places, through stories, videos, and bible study. Sunday evenings from 6th March at 7.15, after Youth@5.

Father, help me to live this day to the full, being true to you in everyway.
Jesus, help me to give myself away to others, being kind to everyone I meet.
Spirit, help me to love the lost proclaiming Christ in all I do and say.

A prayer from Lectio365

As we come to the season of Lent, this song came to mind.    A song that speaks honestly of the doubt and faith journey, being held within the shadow of the Fathers wings, as we journey into who the wounded resurrected Christ is within our world.   Especially at this time.

The gift of welcome is offered to all of us as we seek to learn and discover who God is within our world, shaped through the person of Jesus through the spirit.    The beauty of God being trinity, being relational enables us to interact with our faith in such a connected way, we are welcomed in to who God is through Jesus by his Spirit.  Come, journey towards Holy week discussing and reasoning with Father, allowing them to shape our faith, as we come to land at Easter.

May you know the nearness of noticing the presence of the Trinity within every reflection, every kindness, every act of love, every bird that flys past your window, every daffodil that bears it’s trumpet, every time you fill up your car with petrol, every meal, every self giving act.
May you know that wherever the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom.

Gathering together after the service

Fellowship is important at the Good Shepherd, so we’re thrilled that since 17th May we have been permitted to come together for tea and coffee after our Sunday morning service.

We are not yet permitted to mingle like we used to, so we ask everyone to abide by a couple of rules to keep everyone safe: take a seat at a table in a group of no more than six; wait for our hospitality team to bring drinks to your table and take away empty cups; and have fun reconnecting with your church family.

Come and join the fun on 12th June from 10am!

We are so pleased that we are able to begin to gather again in fresh ways as we enter a new phase of living with Covid.
One of the ways we are going to do that is in a practical way of tidying up and cleaning the church. We would love it if you can attend for a time on Saturday 12 June, it starts at 10am and we invite you to bring along a packed lunch if you would like.
