Life Events

As your local parish church, we are here to help you to mark important life events in a dignified and appropriate way.

If you would like to have your child christened or baptised (they are different words for the same thing), then please get in touch. Christenings and baptisms take place during our regular Sunday morning service, so that your child can be welcomed into the community of faith. If you live in the parish of Carshalton Beeches we would love for you to get married at the Church of the Good Shepherd. You can also have your wedding here if you meet one of the qualifying connections to the parish, for example, one of you was baptised or confirmed in the parish, or one of your parents has been a regular worshipper here.

We have a beautiful building that’s full of light, and will work with you to make it a day to remember as you embark on your journey together. Find out more about getting married in the Church of England.

If you live in the Parish and require your Banns of marriage to be read, please check on a church near you to see if you live in the Good Shepherd Parish.   If you do then please contact us and we will advise you of the next steps.

Funerals and Thanksgiving Services

Funerals are a significant part of the ministry of the church of England.  As the Parish Church of Carshalton Beeches, the Good Shepherd team is available to lead a funeral service to honour their lives before God, whether it is at the church, cemetery or crematorium or a mixture of venues, whether or not your loved one was part of the church community. Ask the funeral directors to get in touch with us, and find your local parish church.

Over the last year many people have lost loved ones and been unable to hold Funerals to honour their memory.   If you would like to hold a Memorial Service or Thanksgiving Service for your loved one, then please do get in touch.

How to organise a funeral at the Good Shepherd Church

If you have just recently been bereaved, please accept our condolences.  Firstly be in touch with your local funeral director and they will give you all the guidance you need on the practicalities of arranging a funeral. You can contact us directly or through your funeral director. A visit can then be arranged at a mutually appropriate time.
